Car Insurance Daihatsu (Car Insurance). What is the best way to handle this car situation? What is the best way to handle this car situation? I drive a 2000 Honda Civic. Here's the scoop: I'm aware I am leaking an unknown amount of coolant. More than less though. Slight back story. Due to financial struggles... for about a month, I was putting water into my reservoir and my radiator cap, but only driving minimally (knowing I was having some radiator issues). I know this is wrong and shouldn't be continued for long. Seriously, guys... don't badger me on that, cause I had no other choice. So, I purchased some 50/50 coolant a couple days ago... and I went through a cycle of that. I just finished a short drive from my job to home, and arrived home just in time, THANK GOD, cause It was a close call. Hood was steaming slightly, but would've easily turned into a fire, if I drove another 2 miles, I bet. Turned off my car, popped the hood, and it was "hissing". The best way I can describe this... car is in decent shape, I must say, but not tip top. The location of the hissing and coolant spraying/hissing, was directly to the LEFT of the engine. Could it simply be a hose? It was kind of dark out, but even in the light, I could not see EXACTLY where the leak was coming from. If anybody can give me some suggestions... I'd greatly appreciate it. Maybe you can't tell me EXACTLY what the problem is, but I know dealing with car repairs can be expensive, so maybe a suggestion on how to act from here on out. Bottom line... probably shouldn't drive the car, until I know the issue is fixed. Otherwise, I'm spending far too much money on coolant. Thanks a bunch to any insight in advance! Your problem could be as simple as a hose clamp that needs tightening. You are crazy to risk severe damage of overheating by letting this go. Get a bright light and look it over carefully to find the leak and deal with it. You have either a intake manifold gasket leak or a head gasket leak. Check your oil, if it is creamy you have antifrezee in it also you will be able to smell a real sweet smell coming from the exhaust. if you have antifreeze in you oil, it will strip the bearings of lubrication, much like soap and cause wear on the main bearings, causing loss of oil pressure. You should never drive a car with a hot engine, gaskets get burnt out easy. You might have to replace the engine. could be a hose, to check this squeeze hose and see if there are any cracks or oxidation in hoses, if this checks out fine, i would try thermostat next as this would be next cheapest, parts wise (usually), if it seems like the leak and/or noise is from area where drive belts are i would suspect a failing water pump, or maybe rust built up in your radiator from running straight water which can cause more problems than just radiator so remember start with the cheap fixes first then work up until you found issue, and i am sorry to hear your having financial issues, as many of us are these days, and i wish you best of luck on fixing your car and that it doesnt cost too much to do, if you have any questions on how to fix or where to buy a repair manual for your car ($20 is what they cost and can help you learn where stuff is on your car and how to fix it), thats if your going to do work yourself, email me @ kms1990@ymail.com Auto parts : Shift Cable Acura 1995 . Daihatsu . How to Remove Headlight FogFoggy headlights can be a frustrating problem, and cause your automobile to look dirty, old, or dingy. Fog, also known as oxidization, is the result of moisture leaking into the headlight and drying. Not only is it unsightly, if left untreated, it can become dangerous when it dims the headlights. Thankfully, you can clean fog from a headlight using materials that you may already have at home. Difficulty:Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Shallow bowl Dish washing liquid (any brand) Soft-bristled toothbrush Toothpaste (any brand) Cooking spray 2 cleaning rags Step by Step : 1 Soak a soft-bristled toothbrush in a shallow bowl of warm water with about 1 tbsp. of dish washing liquid added. 2 Scrub the soap and water onto the headlight with the toothbrush to loosen up any dirt or debris. Pay special attention to any small spaces or particularly soiled areas. 3 Rinse the toothbrush well using clear water. Apply about 1 tsp. of toothpaste directly to the toothbrush. 4 Scrub the headlight with the toothbrush in firm, circular motions. The abrasiveness of the toothpaste will cut though any remaining fog or film without harming the headlight. 5 Clean the toothpaste off the headlight using a wet cleaning rag immediately after scrubbing. Remove the toothpaste immediately after scrubbing to prevent build-up. 6 Spray a minimal amount of cooking spray onto a dry cleaning rag and rub it onto the headlight. This will restore the clarity of the headlight and add a degree of protection against further build-up. Tips & Warnings Use paste form of toothpaste, not gel form. Daihatsu . How to Operate Grand Cherokee Fog LightsAlthough not a standard feature on Grand Cherokees and some other vehicles, fog lights give you a visibility advantage and make a sound investment for your safety. During challenging weather such as fog, heavy snow, driving rain or dust, optional fog lights located below your the headlights of your Grand Cherokee provide extra light ahead of your vehicle, creating a beam that cuts through the weather. Your fog lights work along with your lower beam headlights. If a fog light fuse burns out, find the exterior fuse box under the hood on the driver's side. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Step by Step : 1 Turn on the fog light switch in the multifunction control lever by turning on the low beam headlights, the park/turn lights or the Auto headlights and then pulling the end out of the multifunction control lever. 2 Verify you have the fog lights activated by looking at the instrument cluster indicator light. The front fog light indicator light will be lit. 3 Turn off the fog lights by turning on the high beam headlights. Tips & Warnings Make certain you have your front fog lights adjusted and aimed properly, so you do not blind oncoming drivers. When you have the fog lamp facing straight ahead, the top of the light beam should be four inches below the center of the fog lamp at a distance of 25 feet. If you mount your own fog lights, place them approximately 10 to 24 inches from the ground. This minimizes glare into an oncoming driver's eyes. The following steps tell you how: 1. Use a screwdriver or the flat end of a lug wrench (see Figure 2-20 in Chapter 2) to pry off the hubcap. Just insert the point of the tool where the edge of the cap meets the wheel, and apply a little leverage (see Figure 1-3). The cap should pop off. You may have to do this in a couple of places; it's like prying the lid off a can of paint. . Chapter 1: Things Every Driver Should Know O 1 Figure 1-3: You can use a screwdriver to pry a hubcap loose. 2. Lay the cap on its back so that you can put the lug nuts into it to keep them from rolling away and heading for the nearest sewer. (Take my advice in Chapter 2 and buy a cross-shaft lug wrench. Figure 2-20 shows what one looks like.) Before you begin, you have to ascertain whether the lug nuts on the wheel you're working on are right-hand threaded or left-hand threaded. This isn't a "left-handed hammer" joke; the threads determine which way you turn the wrench. The lug nuts on the right side of a vehicle are always right-hand threaded, but the nuts on the left side may be left-hand threaded.
